First problem. NEVER, EVER, EVER -EVER- take your PC to the Geek Squad. If you want to take it to a shop take it to a local shop, they will work with you personally and cost half the price. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the Geek Squad to 'fix' your PC?
Now to your question.
Most 'My pc reboots by itself' problems stem from a heat related issue. I highly doubt re-installing your OS is going to solve the problem, unless it's rebooting everytime you try to open a specific program or it doesn't boot into windows at all. If your system just randomly shuts down at random times it's usually a heatsink / processor issue. I would fight teeth and nails for my money back from the geek squad, then take it to actual qualified professionals at a local reputable comptuer shop.

You can try going into
Start
Settings
Control Panel
Power Options or Power Management
Review the settings
This may not work for you. When a Microsoft program is installed and activated, the product key is mixed with information about the computer on which it is being installed. MS then comes up with an "installation ID." When you try to install on another computer, it may or may not install, but after a time you will be asked to purchase a license or you will lose some capabilities. Cannot update. Cannot open files. This how MS prevents piracy.
I don't think Best Buy or anyone else can help you with pirated software.
Microsoft Activation/Piracy Prevention – full explanation at source link.
Rather long article, but will answer all your questions about activation and what is or is not allowed.

When Geeksquad cannot fix somthing, their solution is always to give up, format and reinstall.
Did they tell you if they considered any hardware issues?
The simple thing is that you asked them to fix your computer from shutting down and they didn't. I usually don't side with the consumer, but in this case I think that you are owed a refund.
Go into the store, and tell the manager that if they cannot fix your computer, that you require a full refund. If your computer shuts off randomley, the chances it's a software issue is low compared to the possibility of hardware issue.

Though I cannot offer you a solution, I do understand your problems with Best Buy and computer repair. I had a noisy power supply fan and they said they could not replace the fan and would have to replace the entire power supply. I bought a replacement fan for $5 and replaced it instead of the expensive power supply. Best Buy not Best Repair place.

I'm afraid to tell you the Geek Squad is one of the worse options. Anyway, focusing in the problems, what you need to check is the power supply, your power line (the PC, screen, speaker, printer on a single plug use to cause problems). Other less common probability could be a faulty RAM.

Try using system restore, you can make your computer go back to when you first bought it. Then just update your virus protection...etc.
