Well, I think we can safely start by saying you have a fancy goldfish vs. a slim-bodied. Next, the "bulgy head part" is called a "wen." While orandas don't have to have a wen, most all do, so it's probably not an oranda. Your fish has a dorsal fin it sounds like, so you don't have a lionhead or eggfish. It doesn't look like a golfball, so that rules out pearscales and if it doesn't have a really highly arched back, it's probably not a ryukin. You didn't mention bulgy or bubble eyes, so that rules out moors, telescopes, celestials and bubble eyes. If you didn't go out of your way to buy a special fish and if you don't know what type of goldfish you bought, chances are, you bought a basic, standard fancy, which are usually veiltails or fantails, so I'm going to say that you have either a fantail or a veiltail. The basic difference between the two is that the veiltail, appropriately, has a much longer flowing tail than the fantail and the veiltail's body droops down the back where the tail starts. Here is a link with pictures to compare what you have.

You probably have a fantail or ryukin. The difference between this is that a ryukin has a higher arch to the back (which starts right behind the head) and the tail looks more like it's tucked under the body. See this link for photos: http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/ftypes.html

It could be a young oranda, who has not yet grown his wen. How big is he? If they are less than two inches, they may not have one yet. If it has a high back, it could be ryunkin. Or, it could be a fantail:) www.kokosgoldfish.com I think they have types there.
