It is easier to blame the dreaded liberal for anything and everything then to take responsibility for our own government. "Conservatives" have disdain for the greatness of modern America and all of its complexities.

Because throughout the history of humanity there are always those who are resistant to change. The if man were meant to fly ....type of people who cannot grasp new concepts. The nature of people is to always remember the good things of the past and forget the bad. Was life better then? Maybe in ways it was especially if you were of a specific group mainly white males(of which I am one) however it was not so great for others who had little opportunity and as I read about many very bad things happened back then too. There was crime and murder and sickness and all the things which plague us today. Was it less ....once again maybe but remember also we did not have access to instant information like we do today so a person in Boston might not ever hear about murders in San Francisco and therefore not be overwhelmed with bad news .....the world was smaller in that way.
Also many people have so much invested in making money and having power from preaching the Bible that they won't give that up without a fight.

Why do liberals want to live in sodom and gomorrah? I think your Back to the Future delorean over shot ours during time travel. Conservative values are timeless, secular-progressive values are the latest fad, like Rubik's Cube and the Backstreet Boys.

They love those good old days of "morality" when good upstanding citizens of the community could routinely torture and hang non-white people without fear of prosecution.
They are terrified of a society where all people are equal under the law.
Republicans like Mitt Romney are terrified of things like the YouTube debates because they make everyone TOO equal.

Why do liberals want us to live in 19th C society/culture. Marx, Engles, Lenin were all born in the 19thC. How about Adam Smith and Milton Friedman?.....I'll let you look up their biographical information.
