You don't want to use too much heat when you cook with it. Aside from the fact that the heat kills a lot of the beneficial compounds in it - it has a very low smoke point.
You should NEVER EVER store it in the sunlight.
Ideally you'd want to keep it in a cool dark place. In the interest of keeping the health benefits of cooking with and eating olive oil. It's actually a good idea to refridgerate it, if you have a place in your fridge with a low enough temp as not to solidify it.

You should never flush it down the toilet. It clogs the drains. Just an observation from a friends house. Not a pretty picture.
