The answer is an astounding no for all of your questions. The LDS church does not get involved in political matters. They do not support nor endorse ANY candidate, no matter what their religion is. Gordon B. Hinkley (the Prophet) could be running, and we would not be required to support him or even vote for him.

Every year right before elections, they read a letter that comes from the leadership of the church, it says something to the effect of- We are all American citizens and it is our right, privelege and civic duty to vote. The church does not endorse any candidate, but we need to really research the candidates and choose the ones who will support our freedoms and values. We need to make it a matter of a great deal of thought, study and prayer- and then decide on the person we believe is the best for the job.

I imagine in 2008 it will be the same.

I believe that it is completely irresponsible to vote for or against someone simply because of their religious affiliation.

No more than women have to vote for Hillary Clinton or African Americans have to vote for Barack Obama. I'm sure there is some segment of the Mormon population that encourages other Mormons to vote and give money for Romney, but that is true with any group (religious or otherwise).

No to all, and thankfullly, because I'm a registered Democrat and that would mean I'd get in trouble with the church. The leadership of the church does not tell it's members how to vote or takes sides itself, but does encourage its members to make educated choices.

No one has ever told me to do anything like that. I've only heard Romney mentioned, maybe, once, and that was someone saying how his running fo president is putting the church in the spotlight again.

Our church is apolitical. We don't even offer our chapels as polling places on election day. We are taught we should vote as it is an honor to do so, and that we should vote our conscience. That's all.

the certainty that Romney is a Mormon could have not have been given any result on my decision to vote for him. once you get slightly older and get out into the international you will discover that your irrational worry of folk who prepare different religions is a few thing it particularly is possibly to hold you returned, ward off you from having a greater robust existence, and shrink your potential to understand the international around you. Why heck you could additionally benefit adequate know-how to sometime be a Republican. My maximum suitable needs to your rapid restoration from a existence time of liberal bigotry

The church does not endorse any candidate or campaign. It remains neutral. Members are encouraged to research the candidates and vote according to their conscience.
