Yes, but don't use regular paint, use KILZ, it's the only thing that will seal it. Good luck!!

Bathrooms and kitchens are havens for mold due to the high humidity. First, let's solve your mold problem:
The only way to completely remove mold is to use bleach. So yes, spray, scrub, spray again and scrub again. That will remove the mold. Be certain to wear gloves and a mask so you don't absorb any of the mold spores, which are a major health hazard and can really harm you. For life! No kidding.
To help you keep the mold away, not only should you open the window, but if you have a fan, turn it on during bath and shower time.
To prevent mold from forming again, your best bet is to repaint the bathroom. This time, use kitchen & bathroom paint, which is made specially to prevent mold formation.
Good luck!

If your question is, will it stop the mold. The answer is no. It will clean it off, lighten the stain, and enable you to paint it. The mold will grow back unless you do something different with the ventilation. Moisture may be getting into the wall or whatever area your talking about, causing the area to stay moist. Anyway, just getting rid of the existing mold and painting won't keep it from coming back.

That will work. Deck cleaner might work a little better.. it is made to kill mold.
If the paint doesn't completely block out the water.. it's just going to mold again.

It is not a plumbers job or field of expertise. You need a damp proofing specialist to survey the property, most companies will do this for free, you can then pass their findings to your landlord who has a responsiblity to repair the problem. I am not sure but i think if you notify your landlord of a problem and they do nothing you can with hold rent. If you have sloped ceilings it sounds like you have flat roofs, have all the flashings been checked? What type of heating are you using ....gas heaters(not gas central heating) actually put more moisture into the atmophere.

What you mentioned is a good start.
You need to check for sure where the humidity/water is comming from. (I suspect a water line leak.)
After stopping the water source, then clean with bleach, let dry, paint with Kilz, let dry, paint desired color.

if its growing on the drywall i suggest busting out that wall as its most likely all the way through and will continue to grow.
replace it with greenboard - or ceramic backer board and tile (easier than it sounds)
mold can make you sick - be careful and good luck!

I would seal it with KILLZ before painting, just to be sure! You can get it at most hardware or paint stores.
