She's talking about how it is important ot raise to children in a proper way and that it's respectable to get married at a certain point in life and not spend your life moving form one person to another. etc. Lot's of messages in there. Just like anywhere else in the world music is both for entertaiment and education purposes.

"Abakyala na bami", which is the title of the song as well as the chorus simply means Ladies and Gentlemen, and then she spills her story out for the named ones.

Abakyala (pron. abachala)= Ladies
na (pron. na)= and
Bami (pron. bami)= Gentlemen.

Years back, in the Haymarket in London, I went to see a show called 'Ipi Tombi' (maybe it was all one word!).

When the theatre emptied there must have been two dozen or so people (mostly, like me, white) waiting at the bus stop opposite and whom seemingly all boarded the same bus that arrived pretty soon after we got to the stop.

Within a couple of minutes, I had thee most amazing sense of that bus bouncing to the rhythm of the show ....which had seemingly infected all the passengers.

It was a wonderful experience, travelling on a regular London Transport bus that filled with people who were in turn, filled with a 'spirit' of sorts that we each seemingly recognised and identified with.

I encountered, sometime later, a Hugh Masekela, a black African musician who i really enjoyed listening to, then later there was Ladysmith Black Membassa (sorry for any spelling mistakes) and a whole host of other and similar 'different' musics on the BBC 'World Radio' at night.

Taken by comparison to and as against the so-called 'Pop' music of contemporary culture of the West, the rest of the world beats it hands down.

So-called 'PoP' music / bands are like children who try to run before they have even gotten out of their playpens ~ compounded by a mix of an arrogance and / or an indifference which knows nothing and feigns to know everything.

As for your question as to 'my dance,' I don't have one. I just enjoy the music that carries me with a pulse I identify with from inside me.

Thanks for finding the piece, I'll go look for more myself.
Sash.

as I said earlier about my music taste ,that's the kind of music I like, and it's traditional learning from thousands of years before books, home style enlightenment....cool, the family that jams together stays together, I think.
