Its called a cookie because it is fed to your computer. (actually I made that part up :) but anyways it is on your computer for various reasons, for example in yahoo a cookie stores your username so all you have to do it type in your password and it saves a step or some sites send cookies to check what timezone you are in. Some cookies are put on a website to make sure you dont vote twice in a poll and so on. There are many different uses but some may also contain viruses or spyware. these are rare and usually only show up in websites with illegal activity on it. they can be taken care of with certain programs like Microsoft Defender which is free off their website or spybot. Hope this helps!

HTTP cookies, sometimes known as web cookies or just cookies, are parcels of text sent by a server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server.
They were designed to allow you to stay logged into a website, to allow you to choose content that you often browse on a site, etc. Cookies are still mostly harmless, but some have been used maliciously, to cause popups, etc.
Use programs like Ad Aware and Spybot S&D to scan for malicious cookies, etc.

Hello,
Cookies means temporary files required to access any website over the internet.
They act as a connection between your computer and the internet world.
If the cookies are from a safe site they wont harm you but if its from a non secure web site they might down your computer.
You need to install anti virus and anti spy software on your computer.
Regards
Arun

a troll is someone who enjoys saying inappropriate things or harassing people over the internet. Someone who goes to youtube and types in "king of the hill" just to say "KING OF THE HILL SUCKS LOL!" is an example of a troll.
