sure, you don't feel them cutting your abdomen open at the time. but you'll definitely feel it afterward. i've heard the healing from Cesarean hurts SO much more than natural birth. it IS major surgery. go natural... it's safer too.

Not sure where you got your information (or should I say misinformation) from, but it is way off base. A C-section is major abdominal surgery and should not be taken lightly. It should only be used if there is a justifiable medical reason, and only then. The risks to both mother and child are far greater than with a vaginal birth.
As for the pain aspect; while you feel no pain (pressure and tugging) during the actual delivery, the recovery can be pure hell. Not to mention the fact that recovery is much longer for a section. The incision site can stay tender/painful for quite a long time. Some women report having tenderness or pain at their incision site even years after delivery.
Please, look into other avenues of pain relief during your labor/delivery, as it's obvious the methods you used in the past did not help. Best of luck

The birth part is obviously less painful, But a C-section is an awful experinece. It it so much more painful afterwards and takes much much longer to recover from. You have to stay in hospital a lot longer, and for the first few days, cannot even get out of bed or pick up your baby. It is incredibly painful to walk, cough, sneeze, throw up...which after the operation, I needed to do alot! You can't exercise for 3 months after the birth, which means losing weight is much harder!
It can also have pshycological effects. Giving birth is the natural way to end a pregancy, and missing this part out can send the body into shock, making the mother depressed.
Only have C-section if there are complicatons and it is absolutly necessary!!

I think if the situation is life threatening you and the baby are better off having a c-section, but if all is well and it is a good healthy situation, then you should go on with the natural birth like God intended. I know it is painful! Trust me, but c-section will eventually hurt more because you will have stitches in you and that doesn't sound too fun. It's all up to you.
Good luck and congratulations.

Hey from what I know (I have quite a few friends that just had c-sections a few months ago.) C-sectino is horrible. My sister said for a long time you cant walk around or sneeze..even laugh without feeling like your insides are falling out. And my friend, I watched her scream and cry right after she had hers and they were trying to make her walk around the hospital. I dont know though I guess everyone takes their pain differnet but I know when I have my baby in October Im pushing as hard as I can for that natural birth.

sorry but that is a stupid question, a c section is not a choice! Do you think your insurance will pay for one just because you think natural hurts to much? You dont think a csection hurts like heck? Try for weeks on end, you basically have to learn to walk all over again, your stomach muscles which are required for coughing, laughing, walking, are repositioned, stretched apart, used to be they cut them now usually they seperate them. Ive had 5 honey and im due in feb, i have csections because my uterus is so tilted and my birth canal so small a baby can not pass through not because i want to. Plus there are risks and complications with csections, you risk injury to your bladder for one, i had that scare with my last, infections are common, scarring not only on the outside where people can see but on the inside which can affect future pregnancys should you wish to have another. Just get lots of drugs and go for natural that is my advice, csection recovery time is hell.........trust me!

I have had 2 c-sections. The first one because my daughter was breech and the second because I choose to. The only problem is the recovery time. You can bounce back a lot quicker with vaginal birth. C-sections you have to limit your daily activity and are in a bit of pain as your incision heals. It may be hard for you to cope with your other children since you are limited in mobility.

I had no choice but to have a c-section with my son so I have never had a natural birth. I thought my c-section was really easy though. I was walking within 18 hrs and driving within a week. Every women recovers differently though because my best friend had a c-section and was in pain for weeks.

A C-section is major surgery! I cannot understand someone voluntarily choosing a c-section over vaginal for non-medical reasons. The recovery is much, much worse. Much harder and more painful! There is also a higher chance of negative fetal outcome with c-section. I say, avoid a c-section unless there is a medical need for it.

C-section is a long, painful recovery. I am six weeks post-op and I am only just starting to be able to get around well without pain. The first couple of weeks are really pretty hellish and make caring for a newborn hard.

the dr will only do a c-section if there is something wrong. but seeing as how you can give birth naturally, i don't think they are gonna do a c-section just because you want it. try getting an epidural to help with the pain.
