he doesn't want to eat my fish i know that because he tipped the fishtank over today and my fish landed in the sink with only a little bit of water so he barely suvived, but then we got him back in the tank with water, but my cat had a perfect shot of eating myfish but he didn't, so why does he always try to get the lid of my fish's tank??

Because the fish move and for a cat it looks like a toy they can play with
As example, if you swing a ball in front of your cat it will go after it, right?

He probably just enjoys the fun of the chase lots of times a cat will catch something and not eat it,especially if they are already well fed.

It's something new and intriguing that they don't quite understand. They will want to check out anything that's moving like that. Just because your cat didn't go after him this time, doesn't mean that he won't next time.

Sounds like he is thirsty. Then again he may want to play, I had a cat that loved to put his paw in my bath water. He wouldn't drink it but would put his paw in it. I think it may be movement he maybe attracted to.
