A friend a I went to the ocean near houston and for a swim, went went about 100 feet from the shore and started getting stung from what I thought must have been a jelly fish, turns out that there were hundreds of clear floating (things) that would attach themselves to us and bite or sting us. They were very small, about the size of a tick, clear, you could not see them unless you looked very close, all you could see of them were two dots that I suppose where there eyes. They had legs and stuff, I dont know if they had any claws, too small. Does anyone know what I am referring too?

These are not Jellys, They are very small, about the size of a dear tick, they have legs and crawl, they are hard to see because they are clear except for there eyes, I figure they might be some sort of baby crabs, dont know.

live in Houston and I have never seen what you are describing......I've been to the beaches many times but I think you are referring to jellyfish. Small jellyfish that don't look that they have stingers and are petite in size. I 've seen and felt them many times before.

If I am correct you felt a slight irritation in your skin after a few minutes or so when swimming. However jellyfish that have legs......Im not sure what you mean.

I do know that in some beaches in Galveston you can take a net , pull it out and find dozens of blob like creatures stuck to it , but I've never seen eyes or legs on them before. I've swum through Galveston and Texas City beaches before but the jelly-like creatures have never stuck to me and stung me. The irritations came from the sand....and Im pretty sure they were some sort of sea lice that dwell in the sand...after a while you start to get itchy especially in the back and stomach.

Well hope ths helped...most likely you are talking about some sort of jellyfish....If I have any more information I'll be sure to update my answer

Good luck

I had this Happen to me as well in San Diego, CA at Torrey pines state beach. Did some research and a lot of people have experienced these. I found an isopod that many people have been bitten by, me as well. only difference was that I was at the tide line up on shore. Cirolana Harfordi is the name of the little buggers, take a chunk out of you, feels like being pricked by a needle with no irritation/swelling after bite

You were stung by aliens who will change your DNA and now you are going to give birth to more. Should have taken some birthcontrol before you went into the water.

Sea lice. They are found in particularly warm water, and bite you to suck your blood. Charming things.
