They didn't force me, but I had an option... either eat what was made for me, or go hungry

I think more parents need to keep doing that... It's friggin hilarious when you see a 4 year old telling adults where theyre going to eat because the kid doesn't like something

Kids, left to their own choices, would eat junk food. Parents need to make them eat right --fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, etc. We are seeing the results of "well, Dear, you don't have to eat it, if you don't like it" in the fact that America is in an obesity epidemic. I grew up in the dark ages (1950's) and was made to eat right. I now am 6' tall, weigh 215 and can bench press 200 pounds...I'm 60.

They tried but to no avail. When I was four I remember my mom making this salad for dinner and she poured bacon grease over the top of it which grossed me out. I was told I couldn't get up from the table until I finished it. Everyone left and I pulled two chairs together and went to sleep. The next morning I woke up in bed and she didn't serve me that salad again.

Yeah...liver and onions was a big one....my mother couldn't cook them to save her life. Also...at Easter time...she would make this horrible pickled beet concoction where she would put the liquid, hard boiled eggs and beets in a large punch bowl.

My dad would force me to try things... once he made me taste a pickled egg, and it was so nasty I got sick ><

But since I liked vegetables, my mother never pressured me to try something new if I didn't want to
