Mark,

This is for the name of a band. Does it really matter if NESPOT is a "real word" or not? You probably would have to explain to people what you intended meaning for NESPOT was. But, when you mention it in the context of nepotism, I get the connection even if it is not a "real word". And, if you stick with Sycophantic Nespots, you're probably going to have to explain "sycophant" as well.

Personally, I wouldn't abandon NESPOTS as part of your band name. I like it as a reference to nepotism. But, there is not much ring to me with SYCOPHANTIC NESPOTS. Some other related suggestions you might consider are:

Oily Nespots
Oinky Nespots
Nespot Lackeys
Lazy Nespots
Grinning Nespots
Smiling Nespots
Slimy Nespots
Dodgy Nespots
Crooked Nespots
Twisted Nespots
Nespot Minions
Nespot Gofers
Nespot Cronies
Junior Nespots
Lucky Nespots
Preening Nespots
Idiot Nespots
Idle Nespots
Nespot Icons
Shiftless Nespots
Nespot Sloths
Loathed Nespots
Good-for-Nothing Nespots
Ne'er-do-Well Nespots
Slothful Nespots

Try other adjectives of your own, but I would keep NESPOTS.

Have fun! And, good luck.

I think the word is nepotism, not nespotism.

It means patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics: She was accused of nepotism when she made her nephew an officer of the firm.

No, nespot is not a word.

I was reasonably confident that there was no such word as nespot, so I looked it up in my largest dictionary, the Collins Exhaustive, and now I'm confident that there is absolutely no such word as nespot. What made you think there was, anyway?
