but not in the freezer?????

They are putting lights in the new freezers but in the old ones I guess its because they were so small the inventors just assumed people didn't need light too see in them.

I do have a light in my freezer. But I don't think there was a light in the freezer when I was a kid.

You'd know why if you are in the kitchen at night and open the fridge to get a drink without having to turn on the lights.
You don't normally get an urge in the middle of the night to eat frozen chicken though!

Probably because you go in the fridge more than in the freezer.

It is an indication that the door is opened. And it can help you see what is in, without the need of switching on the kitchen lights. the light doesn't turn on when the door is closed!

well the freezer is higher, closer to your face so they figured you could handle it , plus light bulbs cost money!

You dont need one. If you're going to eat frozn food after dark there is a light in the microwave.
