In January, former Jefferson aide Brett Pfeffer pleaded guilty to bribery-related charges, saying Jefferson demanded money in exchange for help in brokering two African telecommunications deals.

Vernon Jackson, chief executive of iGate Inc., a Louisville, Ky., telecommunications firm, subsequently pleaded guilty to bribery, admitting he paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to Jefferson and his family members in exchange for the congressman's help obtaining business deals in Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon.

The raid was part of a 16-month international bribery investigation of Jefferson, who allegedly accepted $100,000 from a telecommunications businessman, $90,000 of which was later recovered in a freezer in the congressman's Washington home.

Jefferson pleaded not guilty in June to charges of soliciting more than $500,000 in bribes while using his office to broker business deals in Africa. The Justice Department said it built that case without using the disputed documents from the raid.

I believe the investigation continues on him...

But you should really search news sources to find the latest. I really don't know.

Of course, it's not against the law to keep money in a freezer, but then again, it sure is mighty suspicious.

As always, He is innocent until proven guilty.

It looks like he his guilty. Who hides money in their freezer?

As an american, I will let the legal process work itself out before I render judgement.

Took bribes and you can look this up through a search engine and get more accurate details. Unless, of course, you're using this forum as a soapbox.

brokered some deals for telecom companies, but I don't see how it is a bribe unless he had to push for legislation to do it, that opposed his earlier views on the matter.
