Hi, I'm 17, I was born and brought up in England, but my parents and the rest of my family are from Spain. I'm what you would call typical Spanish/Mediterranean looking. My skin is naturally tanned/olive coloured, my eyes are dark brown, and my hair is very dark brown. I wanted other peoples opinions on this... do you think having a darker colouring makes you less attrative in this country? I know I shouldn't take this too personally as teenage boys are very immature, but when I was at school, the boys there said I was ugly because I was dark... Do you think in society your more beautiful if you're say, fair skinned and blonde haired?

Thanks in advance to all that answer.

Once upon a time - not so very long ago - there was a man who convinced his countryfolk that blonde, blue eyed people were the only people that had a right to live on the planet.

His name was Hitler and he was insane and a monster.

No - being dark skinned is VERY FAR from being thought of as ugly!

I am afraid that the people that are saying this to you must be very worried and insecure.

Instead of listening to what the BOYS have to say - try to get the opinions of some females - I think that you might get a totally different response!

And really it is only when you are pretty young that all that is relevant anyway - I know that doesn't help you now - but trust me - things will change as you get older!!!

Don't you remember the fuss that was going on when they picked the new actor to play JAMES BOND - because he was blonde? Everybody knows that the greatest spy/lover/all round hero was TALL DARK AND HANDSOME!!

Trust me - when all your pathetically pale friends are hiding away in the shade scared to go out in the sun - there will be one guy out there showing off his pecs!!!

Worry not - you look just magnificent as you are!

You sound gorgeous.
I would not worry about your colouring. Think of Sophia Loren, she is a Mediterranean and has aged stunningly and so have many other women with olive skin, whilst the fair skinned blondes the same age have faded into insipidity.
"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder " they say, and it is true. I would not worry about what silly boys said to get at you and tease you. Yes, some men do prefer blondes, but many actually prefer a dark eyed beauty with a healthy natural tan to her skin. Come to think, of it most fashion models are more like you than the Scandinavian type...

I wish I was seventeen again. You have proberbly upset someone who is getting his own back.
Think of this how often do you see a drop dead gorgeous bloke married to a very plain woman, or a little runt of a man married to a drop dead gorgeous woman. Have a look and you will be suprised. Do you really want a silly childish 17 year old boyfriend? Maturity wise you as a young woman are proberbly about 4 years ahead of a lad of your age. You will not be the same girl you are now.in four years time. It is not unknown for the very girl these clowns are saying is ugly to turn into a great beauty. That will be your evenge when you will not een want to look at them

Hello.

No way.....Each to their own and all that! Some prefer Brunettes & others prefer Blondes BUT being darker definatly does 'not' make you ugly!

I have dark hair & I would love to be naturally tanned! You Go Girl..........Anyone that taunted you at School was either...

1. Jealous (if Girls)

2. Fancied You (If Boys....Or Girls I guess, ha)

3. Or were just Insecure about then selves (both)

Take Care

No this is not true! You're very pretty! Look, I have the same skin colour as you, I come from India. And once some boys said I was ugly because of my dark skin colour. But don't listen to them! I now actually have white boyfriend, and he doesn't think I'm ugly! You're very beautiful!

There is an Irish song called "The Spanish Lady" which would seem to indicate just the opposite. Plus, many people in the UK are naturally dark, in certain regions or towns.

Any skin colour can be beautiful. There are certainly a lot of extremely dark, more black than brown skinned beauties. If you are beautiful inside as a person as well, that beautiful will show through even the jet black skin.

This is just another form of colorism and European brainwashing. The same thing happened to Blacks during the Midle Passage with European seasoning. Dark skin is very beautiful indeed and I have recently read that large amounts of melanin contributes to decreasing the rate of aging. Whenever you are, they are racist. Your skin is gorgeous with rich color. Ignore those people because they are envious of you. Society is messed up thinking one type of skin and hair is nice. Defeat colristic ideas and be who you are.

hell no!

One of the most attractive girls I ever got together with was Spanish. She was an absolute stunner and had all of the charaterstics you just listed*. Some guys pefer darker skin and hair, and I for one am a sucker for big brown eyes.

*She was also a bit of a bunnyboiler, or I'd still be with her

Most of those who call you ugly will run very fast to get a tan when the summer comes. I've never seen a tanning salon going bankrupt. That's real.
