in calculator (i'm guessing)...
just type 7 then . then 4 then 0 then %===i should give you .074

You should just be able to type 7 . 4 %, four key presses. There is no difference between 7.40% and 7.4%, aside from significant figures, so you don't need to type the final zero.

7.40 / 100 = .074
or
7.40 "%" = .074


Dividing by 100 is the same as using your "%" key. Because you are finding the ratio of what 7.4% is out of 100% total.
