I would say america, because like you said they are a big place, they are not so much stupid because they dont think they are following orders, but we shouldnt follow them as we lose so much people in the war and the usa dont seem to care, USA started the war so why try and finish it with our people when its their fault

Having served with the Royal Navy for 5 years, twice down the gulf i have worked with both armies and would put hand on heart and say the brittish army were the most professional and who i trusted.

However, to say the american army isn't any good is a lie, both armed forces are excellent and trust me it's not who's the best out there thats the question, it's as long as you get the job done and come home.

it is also true the british army has not got the funding it needs, but still manages to get the job done as well as the americans if not just a little better.
Patrolling towns without helmets is a tactic not a funding crisis, we have lots of expierence dealing with terriorists IRA etc... so the army has an excellent hearts and minds policy, dont go running around with guns thats not how you get the job done, open up to the locals and they proved a damned sight more valuable

Depends on what you want your army to do. Britain goes by the book and if you review history they are overly cautious when engaging the enemy. If you want someone to kick-*** then USA hands down. All you have to do is study Patton vs. Montgomery. The Germans feared Patton more than any other general because his troops were well-prepared and relentless. It was a long time ago but things haven't changed that much.
However, I have always thought that British Intelligence Services have always been superior.

Britain for all the reasons stated above. Monty was catious due to experience in North Africa, where we won. Patton was an advocate of a broad front with no concentrated attack to break through, a result of which was the costly battle of the Bulge. monty was overruled for political not strategic reasons and the Germans use of his own tactics to almost break through was a fine vindication of his opinions.

Britain, we have more history and discipline behind us.

My Dad used to say that if the British and German armies joined forces; we'd be unbeatable.

The Americans have always been judged to 'have all the gear and no idea' Our troops are more professional and more disciplined. Their dreadful friendly fire record reflects a gungho Arnold Schwartzenegger film attittude that has no place when dealing with real lives. Just my opinion but there it is.

I'd say America, because of the funding that is given to them, and the support they receive from a public that *believes* their actions to be justified.

I would like to point out that I am American, but I work for a veterans charity in the UK, so I'm trying not to be biased in any way.

the americans have a useless army who like to use friendly fire as a word for blowing the heads off there allies
