No, the right of politics will never disappear. They are present in all countries, I think it was Tony Benn who said to Neil Kinnock.'' Never underestimate the right.'' And by God he was correct. The Tories have absolutely nothing going for them, they have a poor leader, bankrupt in policies, they are looking daily like losers for evermore. I think they are doomed to sniping from the periphery of politics for years to come. They will not go away, they will be merely a nuisance value to any future Government.

Yes. It's amazing that the tories are now in almost exaclty the same situation labour was in in the 80s and early 90s. Unless the tories actually STAND for something then nobody's going to trust them ever again. People will move further right or just not vote.

It's ridiculous that Cameron ALREADY seems to have had his time. The tories should have stuck with Haig all along. They might have lost one, maybe even 2 elections - but they wouldn't have been out of power for maybe another 5 or 10 years as they will be now.

The most likely time for a General Election is going to be May 08. Reason I say this is because by calling the General Election to coincide with the London Assembly Election, it will force Boris Johnson to choose between his Henley constituency and going for the job of Mayor of London.

It's the Boris effect you see. At the moment the Tories in London have the majority of the seats on the London Assembly. They desperately want the Mayor's job too. They know they cannot achieve government but if they can get their fat mits on London they can mess it up as they did before back in the bad old days of Horace Cutler, better known as Horrid, who introduced London to the one-man bus, thus signing the death knell of Londoners fave bus, the Route Master with it's two-man crew. Less vandalism etc.

Never under estimate the Tories. This is the party of Liberty, which opposed slavery and which opposes ID cards. The continual strikes by the postal workers will have a bad effect upon Labour's chances of winning anything if allowed to continue, which seems likely.

The one mob you've got to be aware of are the lower middle class, the semi-detached brigade. They usually vote Tory.

Where I live in a middle income area of detached houses, most folk vote Lib Dem or Labour or both. No tories in sight, but then most of us are doing something in the public sector, teachers, Guardian reads etc.

Don't blame me, I'm ready to explode and have voted Tory in my time, but not for the Thatcherists. Not sure that I want to vote for Boris or the Cameroonians. Wait and see.

No even though I do not support or like the Tory party we need an opposition party to keep all parties right. What you are suggesting is a one party state and that would not good be for the country this is a democratic country and I would rather it the way it is.

First of all there will not be an October election.
Secondly - since Labour changed their whole philosophy to new Labour their policies are pretty much the same as the Tories'. Whereas before they had totally different ideologies and most people could vote for the one that they preferred.
These days it doesnt really matter.

That's pretty unlikely. The Tories have outlasted more than one political party already and they'll outlast Labour too.

It would make an old man very happy.
I'd even come back from holiday to partake in the rout.
