Another interesting point on this bridge collapse story: the member of the House who was representing Minneapolis for nearly 30 years, from 1978 to 2006, was Martin Olav Sabo -- a very liberal Democrat. He was a longtime member of the Appropriations Committee and an erstwhile member of the Budget Committee.

It became the fault of engineering. i think Bush has an MBA and since the bridge became recently inspected, it has no longer something to do with Bush. And no person knew it became a "failing bridge". and there is not any longer something to chortle at approximately this tragedy, pal. And the only concern to contemplate is why somebody could submit a query like this.

ooo, we're on a binge this morning aren't we? Well I'm in MSP and yes repairs should have been done long ago, but not unlike a lot of states, they have to decide where the revenue will best be applied. we all make mistakes. sometimes it is a costly one, like this.
everyone wants to point the finger at bush, but what they don't get is that cheney has run things all along. so if you want to point that finger, place if appropriately at cheney. he is the war monger. bush was the puppet.
and the reason we have situations in MSP is because the money is being spent elsewhere for infrastructure. Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
IT IS TIME WE KEEP OUR MONEY AT HOME AND TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN!

Well, of course if the bridge was neglected for 17 years it's completely excusable for "the decider" to continue to neglect it. Why should he think about something no one else thinks about. He's just the duly appointed President of the United States. He has more important things than the U.S. infrastructure to think about, like increasing Al-Qaeda recruitment so the D.O.D. can continue increasing the U.S. defense budget.

Last year, using American made jets and American made laser guided bombs, and with America's best wishes, Israel destroyed 155 bridges in lebannon.
Now one measley American bridge rots away and falls down and they're all crying like babies.
Bush is spending a billion dollars a week of taxpayers money, to supposedly cram his "democracy" down Iraq's throat, as a huge smoke screen while he sucks their OIL dry. If he hadn't chosen to lie his way into such a bloody, trespassing, self defeating quagmire, that billion a week could be spent maintaining things, like bridges and more, at home.
Yankee go home, and stay there..

Even if you like the guy, he has gutted the highway fund and he specifically said it was going to be either the highway or fund the war. The bridge was undergoing construction at the time it fell, it takes a long time from a determination of a problem to its resolution. Don't be silly please about such a serious matter, innocent people died, not only in the Towers, but on the bridge. Trying to make a crass political point is uncalled for.

poorly. i didn't even realize people are blaming bush for that bridge. from an engineering stand point, when something like this happen, somebody screwed up somewhere somehow. wtc had a freaking plane flew into it, that's a lot of punishment for the structure. nothing ran into this bridge, there's got to be a fundamental structural failure somewhere.

Do you have any specific statements made by Democratic political leaders? Internet sites, well, unless it is from a credible source they are to be ignored. Bridge inspections have been under heavy duty budget cuts the last 15 to 20 years, so, if anything is being said by a credible politicians, perhaps this is what is being inferred, discussed, or mentioned. I must honestly say, the GOP showed nothing but disdain for Clinton his entire tenure in office, so, in the polerized extreme context of our era, any blame game doesn't surprise me.

Well if you listen to those Christian fundies who are the heart of the Republican party and who are always telling us that God is punishing us for one thing or another ,is it not possible that GOD caused this horrible accident to punish Americans for electing Bush???
I suspect that God/Christ must be madder than hell because America chose to wage an illegal war of choice based upon a pack of filthy lies that has resulted in over 400,000 innocent Iraqi civilians and children of God being slaughtered .
Just a thought.

I think at this point people like yourself are quicker to jump on what you think a "liberal" might say rather than giving them a chance to say it.
Don't tell me how I think, or what I think. AND don't you dare politicize the deaths of Americans. You should be ashamed for asking this question and using this to attack liberals.
