1 1/5
= 6 / 5
16 / (6 / 5)
= 16 x 5 / 6
= 80 / 6
= 40 / 3
= 13 1/3

You convert them both into fractions.
A whole number is easy: Just use the number as the numerator, and 1 as the denominator. So: 16/1.
For mixed numbers, add the fractional part to the whole-number part to turn it into a fraction. I'm assuming you already know how to add fractions, but here's how:
1 + 1/5
= 1/1 + 1/5
(Now find a common denominator--5--and multiply the 1/1 by it)
=5/5 + 1/5
= 6/5
Okay, so now you have two fractions:
16/1 divided by 6/5.
Divide as normal: Flip the numerator and the denominator in the second part, and multiply:
16/1 times 5/6.
(You can cancel here, but I'll ignore that part for simplicity.)
16 * 5 = 80
1 * 6 = 6
So the answer is (80/6).
Simplify the fraction (by dividing both parts by 2):
40/3.
If you want to turn it back into a mixed number:
40/3
=39/3 + 1/3
=13 + 1/3
= 13 1/3.

If the answer is a mixed number or whole number change it to a fraction. For example: 3 2/4 would be changed to 14/4 or 2 would be 2/1. After you would make the number its reciprical and multiply. For example: 14/4 divided by 2/1... you would change 2/1 to its recipricle of 1/2 then multiply through. So it would be.. 14/4 multiplied by 1/2... then you'd get 14/8 then you'd simplify it to 7/4. So with that the answer to 3 2/4 divided by 2 is 7/4. Your welcome.

16 divided by 1 1/5
convert the whole number with fraction into fraction
1 1/5 = 5*1+1 =6 then copy the denominator
6/5
16 divided by 6/5
the denominator of 16 is one so 16/1
16/1 divided 6/5
get the reciprocal of 6/5
6/5 = 5/6 --- reciprocal
so the division become multiplication
16/1 * 5/6
16*5/6*1=80/6
80/6= 13 1/3---- the fraction of 80/6

put a 1 under the whole number
change the mixed number to an improper fraction
16/1 divided by 6/5
then flip the 2nd fraction and multiply
16/1 * 5/6=40/3 (after being reduced)

with numbers such as 1 1/5, what you do is take the (denominator * the integer + the numerator)/denominator. for example:
5*1+1= 6/5
now you have 16/(6/5)
then when you have a fraction in the denominator, you want to take the reciprocal of the denominator * the numerator and denominator. for example:
(6/5)*(5/6) = 1/1 = 1 (which can be neglected since its in the denominator)
and
(16/1)*(5/6) = 80/6 = 40/3
ANS: 40/3

Basically to divide a number by a mixed number you have to make your mixed number an improper fraction, then flip it top to bottom and multiply.
eg 16 divided by 1 1/5
change to an improper fraction = 16 divided by 6/5
flip your fraction and multiply =16 X 5/6
=13.33
