I will be driving from Long Island, NY to Ohio. Its about 8 hours. I am leaving on a Friday (or possibly Saturday). What do you think is the best time to leave? I want to be in as minimal traffic as possible! I want to avoid afternoon rush hour as well.

There's something to be said for leaving a bit after 9 a.m. You'll miss some of the New York morning rush hour. Once you get out of the city, you should be fine. I don't know where you are going in Ohio, and it obviously makes a difference. Obviously, Cleveland is going to be crowded at 5 p.m., so don't be afraid to stop along the way and get there after 6. Otherwise, you should be fine.

If you leave early in the morning you will only have to go through morning rush hour and will most likely get there before having to drive through afternoon traffic as well.

My favorite time for a trip like that would be 5 am.Grab a short breakfast a cup or 3 of coffee and roll on. You probably won't see much traffic on the way out, you get the sunrise at your back and are wide awake, alert, etc. Ohio won't have much noon rush hour traffic! not like LI.

No, the battery does no longer die, by using fact it somewhat is being charged by ability of the alternator. If that's a extremely present day motor vehicle it in all probability has an electric powered thermostatic cooling fan, so as that would desire to look after the cooling. in all probability no longer something would take place. it would proceed to idle until it ran out of gas or you turn it off.

Ya definatley leave early so you will have the most time possible at your destination. And make sure to leave time for any sight-seeing you might want to do along the way. Well, have fun!!!

Leave at sunrise. It is much too dangerous driving at night when you can't see as well. Plus, you won't waste the whole day on the road.

Just after dawn on Saturday, or if you can drive at night well enough, start about 7PM. Have a safe trip!

I prefer night driving. There is much less traffic at night.
