There is only one thing worse than a ear mongering President (who has waged an illegal war based upon a pack of filthy lies that has resulted in the slaughter of over 400,000 innocent Iraqi civilians as well as a President that has turned a terrorist free Iraq into a terrorist haven and so enraged Muslims around the world that they are joining Bin Laden in droves making all of us a hell of a lot LESS SAFE than before 9/11) and that is one who cannot even talk properly .

He is a walking billboard for anyone thinking of taking drugs and becoming an alchololic for HE is what you will become.

Both are correct, or at least were correct.

The nuculear pronunciation and spelling is common among older people, nuclear is common among younger.

Look at some older ( 40s, to the 70s) high school and college text books and you will see both used.

It is true that today the nuclear pronunciation is the standard.

I bet he thinks younger people are stupid when they say things like LOL, or BF.

He is the decider and he will decide how to pronounce it.

Here are a couple of gems from the mouth of G.W. Bush:

"Our priorities is our faith"- Greensboro, NC Oct. 10,2000
"I was proud the other day when both Republicans and Democrats stood with me in the Rose Garden to announce their support for a clear statement of purpose to disarm, or we will." - Speaking about Saddam Hussein; Manchester, NH, Oct. 5, 2002

I don't understand why people make a big deal out of this. I had heard 100's of people pronounce it nuc-u-ler before I ever heard Bush say it,somehow everyone believes that he was the first, and only person to pronounce it that way. I can't tell you how many different ways I've heard people pronounce things compared to the correct way. Who cares?

Don't you get bored watching Bush speeches for hours and hours desperately trying to find every insignificant slip just so you can complain about it? What a boring life.
BTW: how many people here do you expect to have spoken to Bush, especially after every speech?

Not long ago the majority of Americans pronounced it "Nucular" and many politicians chose to pronounce it that way so as to be "closer" to the electorate. I hardly hear anyone pronounce it that way anymore except for Bush and my Grandfather, so it may be an outdated political strategy.

Since I have heard President Bush making jokes about his tendency to make mispronunciations...especially THAT one...I have to think that, yeah, someone has told him.
