Beauty is so subjective. It's tough to say what it is without saying just what it is to me. Beauty in terms of physical beauty is kind of hard to describe in words. Just something so amazing and pleasing to look at. There are different kinds of beauty like the beauty of a young child, innocent and cute, to the beauty of a very attractive woman (or man), to the beauty of nature and just being awed by the amazing things like sunsets or oceanic views or mountains in the distance...

In terms of people, I think that inner beauty (personality and the person as a whole) can really add to (or detract from) a person's beauty. I've known plenty of girls that I thought were kind of cute or didn't really notice at all, but after getting to know them and finding them to have great personalities/clever wit/intelligence, found them to be incredibly attractive and it seems like they "became" more physically attractive.

I've read so many books on defining this, I don't know if I can sum it up in a yahoo answer, but lets try.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is techniques true. An artist expression (where it be music, a painting, or a girl's behind) expresses something that words cannot express. Actually a huge amount that can be experienced by humans can't be expressed in words. Then of our feeling words like happy, sad, angry, sluggish.. etc. What exactly does happy mean? Is all happy the same? -It's like a generalization of a million different emotions that all get generalized into 'happy.' -Art expresses those differences.

When something is created, it's created as a sort of medium, or as an undefined symbol for the listener or observer to put meaning to. -Sometimes we all as observers stick similar meanings to the symbols, sometimes we don't (like in rock'n'roll between the teenager and the parent). When we put meaning towards this work, we 'make' it artistic, and we do something that Susanne Langer (the aesthetic philosopher) called a 'vital import.' We import our feelings into the object so that expression deep inside ourselves can be seen outside of us, and better appreciated. Thats why girls write suicidal poems so that feeling can be viewed from the outside rather from the inside.

When we see something that we import a really strong expression onto, we call that beautiful. When we see something that we can't really import any expression onto, or the expression is weak and lame, we call that ugly or boring.

That's sort of the 2 cent answer. In short, beauty is what give us value and meaning. And beauty isn't created from the outside, but is a two part process of some creating something with the power to hold our expression and us, the observer, being able to complete it by giving that expression.

First of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (no matter what a cliche it seems) Not everyone will agree on a rigid, standard, checklist of beauty. Most importantly beauty HAS to consist of self respect, self confidence, and most importantly kindness. Physically speaking, everyone has a different opinion.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say! What may appear to be unattractive to one may be lovely to another.

Even the worst of criminals had a good side. It may have been so engulfed by their evil that the speck of beauty they had was overshadowed. Hitler for one example loved dogs. How could a man with such maliciousness have a soft spot for dogs.

One guy or woman will no longer be able to define splendor for yet another because of the fact all of us see human beings otherwise. I see splendor while one has a great character, is sort and being concerned. I even have considered countless acceptable women persons to look at yet they are so in many circumstances into themselves too plenty to take a glance after everybody else. that's no longer continually the case yet ones splendor in many circumstances is going to their head.

There is inner beauty and outer beauty.
Outside one has to have a calm, peaceful and joyful manner with clear eyes, sweet mouth and a smile or a serene face.
