Or African, or *****, or whatever you want to call it.

And it seems to be working. many Black people assume that they have white or indian in them. Im not saying that there are no mixed Blacks. But Segregation was law until the 1960's and the Black population has been pretty much isolated.

My point is, I have noticed a lot of people saying that Blacks in America are "not really Black." How Black do we have to be?

Black people have already abandoned the idea of Africa as our motherland, are now going to abondon being black altogether?

If you yhave white grandfather, whom you know and love, that is fine. But most Black people do not have white family members, have never seen a white person at a family reunion. But yet, presume that they must have white in them, simply because they are not tar Black. This borders on brainwashing.

EDIT: fair enough, not white people, but the various institutions that shape culture (such as the governement, schools, ect. - usually made up of white people)

I'm proud of ALL of my heritage regardless of race or admixture!

Black is not the only race and I'm proud to be 1/8 white.

You have a good point with regards to segregation. However, it's also important to realize that numerous black women were once at the sexual mercy of white slave masters. Not only in the United States but also in other countries (including countries in Africa where such is still the case). And I'm not talking about something that was an occasional occurance.

You don't have to have living white relatives in order to "have white in you". Your great great great grandfather, for example, may have been white. If such is the case then deny it all you want, but white is indeed in your lineage. But how people identify themselves is none of my concern. Well, I guess that's not entirely true, as I think negatively of the ''one drop rule'' regardless of who embraces it or why. I suppose what I should say is that I think it's more important that people accept themselves regardless of the labels they choose.

"The various institutions that shape culture" tell us who's black and who's white because they want us constantly arguing over such matters. It's just another method to try to keep us stupid and preoccupied.

What you are saying is so TRUE. That needed to be said. The family picnic was a good example. White people are just humuliated that they owned slaves, and the only way to forget that is to forget that Black people came from Africa. And they only way to get Africa out of the picture is to get Black people to stop identifying with Africa which will therefore make people forget about slavery.

Ever notice White people don't apply this standard to Italians? Who are mostly pale with light hair but still say they are "Italian." And how come White people don't apply this rule to themsleves. Many Whites could have some Black way back in their family, but they don't hardly go around saying they are "not really White" because of some sole Black or Chinese relative. Oh, then White people get really nasty when it comes to biracial people. They didn't want them 5 years ago, but they want them now. Never mind that by White peoples own standards, 'biracial' people are Black because of dominant genes, that's what they mostly are. Just like white people may be a mixture of some things, but they mostly call themselves White.

You people blaming the government are stupid because the people are the government, the government is not run by robots or smurfs, it's people, it's just a scapegoat way of White people to avoid their sins.

God put culture here for us to identify it with but White people ruined Gods plan, as usual with their Satanic selves. I encourage Blacks to continue to use the word African, Italians to use Italian, and the Chinese...... and so forth.

Great question. Sad isn't it that someone else can tell you who and what you are and you simply take their word for it. I am light skinned and I have hazel eyes. Yet, nobody cannot tell me that I am not the strong black woman that I am. I see all the time how some ignorant people say that because you are light skinned that you lack African ancestory. There is several tribes in Africa that are light skinned. Plus, most light skinned black people have no features of any other racial group but black. I am sure somewhere down the line, some great, great, great, great grandparent may have had a tryst with someone of a different color. Yet, I have a gorgeous black mother and a gorgeous black father. I would never deny the beautiful blackness that is me.

Well I was born and raised in the south and my granny always said that " there's always one or two in the wood pile ", meaning that we weren't all white. ( sorry about the reference but that's whats she said to us.) I think some people don't have anything better to do then sit around and think about things to say just to hear themselves and to be heard. If I look at you I would say you are a black man and if you looked at you would say she is a white women. I can not help where my ancestors came from nor can you. We are all from some where no matter if some want to believe it or not. You cant change history.

I really think there is something psychological underlying here.

White ppl are really a small minority worldwide. They are vastly outnumbered by non-white ppl. Their aggressiveness towards all non-white ppl show this fear of white annihilation to be very real.

I've noticed lately that the US census has been trying to classify ppl who were before thought of as black, to white.
Black is the dominant gene, that is a scientific fact.

So for purposes of classification, (which the US came up with in the 1st place), a mixed person would be considered black. Due to population shifts in the US there is a growing number of non-white ppl which constitutes a direct threat to white supremacy & power.

A lot of African American's have Indian in them, I'm 1/8th Cherokee, but I don't call my self a plain 100% Native American. Blacks used to do that in the 60's just to get some White people to leave them alone about their race, and it seems like they passed it on through the generations. I'm proud to be black and i'm proud to be Native American, but because i'm proud of being Native American, it doesn't mean that i'm trying to say i'm not Black.

I'm always disappointed by these views.

Why are so much emphasis being put on the color of your skin. Forget that and maybe others will forget too. Forge your life out of your own achievements and not how you think others see you.

As long as any person of any race still see the division based on color then we will always be slaves. ALL OF US.

Be blind to white, black, or any skin shade, but always see human underneath.

I'm a mutt, being Native American, African, Jewish (mixed Portugese and Lithuanian), Welsh, and Swiss -in roughly equal parts with a double dose of the Jewish part. There are countless forms I have to fill out trying to delineate me into being white too. Plus I have a nice bleachy white name to go with it. I don't want you to be anything, and I am upset at our shared culture for trying to separate us all into our component parts to see where we all fit. We fit together, and can have respect for our separate histories. Anyway, most of our society tries to make me white. I know what I should be - thankful for what I have. Unlike most pure Native Americans, I gan grow facial hair, and unlike most white people, I can play bass guitar. I am different - an individual, and in that way, I don't want ANYONE to forget who they are - beautiful individuals created by their maker. It's the cultural relationship and delineation that creates hate, and hate is wrong.
To sum, most white people aren't trying to convince black people they aren't black, since most of them don't vote. The culture, as mandated by the government, is trying to do that. The government did the segregation, due to the culture. The government allowed oppression, and still does. The government is paid to make walls, and individuals have to tear them down.

Black people are black people, white people are white people, hispanic people are hispanic people. The fact is, there are very few, pure races in the United States. No matter how many different ethnicities run through your blood, if you look black, you are black. In this country, if your mom is black and your dad is white (or vice versa), and you're light, bright and damn near white, guess what you are? You got it, BLACK! None of it should matter, because in the end, we're all supposed to be human beings, however, this is the world that we live in.

best for you for status your floor, telling your chum your possibilities, and not letting her peer rigidity you into something which you probably did no longer prefer to do. there is not any longer something incorrect with your chum liking white adult men and their isn't something incorrect with you who prefer adult men of shade. you will no longer be able to help who you're attracted to. If she is a real chum to then you definitely she would have the capacity to appreciate your emotions. do on no account permit everybody rigidity you into some thing you're no longer in prefer of. you probably did the superb ingredient :-)
