Sorry, No lawyer will give you advice for free. If you want information, you can visit the following website. I am sure it will help you. And if you think you need legal assistance, You can just submitt your issue and a lawyer will contact you within 24hrs. Don't worry about their charges, Its only $1/day. So you are getting what you want in just $1. I think this you can afford. Here is the link

Your question does not make sense..if your mentally handicapped son 42 lives with his "parents" then they are his legal guardians and have the legal right to make decisions for his care. If you do not feel they are capable and you are the birth mother, you can try contacting your local social services agency.

As for a "free" attorney, you can see if you meet the qualifications for legal aid in your state (if you earn above minimum wage, it is not likey). Would you want to work for free for someone? Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. If your son is of value to you, you will do whatever you need to do to ensure he is properly cared for, even if that means mortgaging your property and maxing out your credit cards.

The only 'free' attorney that I know of is the few that might allow one phone call for free advice. Attorneys don't make it a habit to do things for free; it may cost you something to write up your guardianship.
