Dust first. But I do use the vac to dust sometimes when I am in a hurry. But Dust first, otherwise you dust and clean the countertops, throwing new dusts and etc on your vac floor, feeling like you need to start again.
Vac is the thing I hate the most doing in a house, but I still do it every week....

Usually, I'll "work" a room top to bottom...I'll get the cobwebs out of the corners with the vac attachment, then dust the furniture, vacuum furniture and clean the television/entertainment center... Then lastly I'll vacuum... While that's going on I've sprayed down the bathroom and I've started a load of laundry ! Oh and FYI woman are way better multitaskers than men... Men can only do one thing at time- woman are used to multitasking especially if they children..... good luck..

I usually vaccuum first because most vac's throw a little dust into the air. I dust afterward and then quit!

Dust than vac so that way anything that falls on the floor gets sucked up into the vac and your house will be even cleaner by you doing that

I sometimes do the same as you, but most of the time I vacuum first. It seems to raise the dust a bit so I can get the furniture last.

To answer your question, you dust first. Logically, top to bottom. Once you dust it falls to the floor and then you vacuum. Now, laziness is completely under your control. As long as you're satisfied that's what counts right???
