No audio - PC is tricked into thinking headphones are plugged in?

I'm trying to play GTA San Andreas on my computer using the XBox 360 controller. However, whenever I use the controller, the computer is tricked into thinking I have the headset plugged into the controller and tries to output audio to it. Is there any way to force audio output through the speakers?

k, here is what you gotta do

click down in the toolbar>rightclick audio icon(speaker looking thing).>adjust audio properties>audio>and default sound device

Unplug the headset. Do you receive sound thru the speakers?
You may not receive sound thru speakers with the headset plugged in. Mine doesn't.
