On Buffy episode 84, "The Replacement," did Nicholas Brendon's twin brother guest star as the "fake" Xander?

Just wondering if they used his twin for some of the shots where two Xander's were seen. If so, did his twin talk on camera?

yes, his twin brother Kelly Donovan did appear as the duplicate Xander. they only used Kelly when the two were side by side or walking past each other ( like when xander was on the payphone, the other walked by). when the focus was on one of them, it was always Nicholas Brendon playing both parts. I dont remember Kelly having a large speaking part, mostly small words or laughing..

I think it was so they never had to do a split screen like in old tv shows, like Bewitched where elizabeth montogmery played two parts, or Patty Duke playing Patty and Cathy at the same time..

Yes, Nicholas Brendons twin brother Kelly Donovan played his other half in "The Replacement" and he did talk on camera. He did such a good job that he also stood in for Nick in the episode "Intervention" when Nick was too ill to tape the show. I am not sure how many episodes Kelly was the stunt double for Nick, which lead to other stunt roles on such shows like "alias".

yes, his twin did appear on the episode as his replacement. I can't remember if he said anything out loud on camera but i would think not because their voices are very different and people would notice.
