I'm looking for a fun board game, and I'm not sure which to buy. Of the four, I've only played Taboo, which was awesome, but usually I don't have a group to play with. I know Scattergories can be for 2-6 players, which is perfect, but when I read the game description, it didn't sound fun to me. So which one should I choose? Any other suggestions? (Btw, would Cranium be an embarrassing game for shy people [who wouldn't want to sing or act]?) Thanks in advance.

Here are some ideas:
- Of the 4 you listed, I like Scattergories the best. Cranium is fun, but its pretty much a bunch of other board game ideas crammed into one game, but it doesn't do any of them particularly well. Taboo is ok, but the buzzer can get a bit annoying after a while. Pictionary can be fun if everyone likes to draw. Taboo and Pictionary are good for 2 players.
- Wit and Wagers. This game is similar to the opening game in the gameshow the Price is Right, where everyone guesses the answer to a question. After all the answers are placed, you bet on who comes the closest (I think without going over..and yes there is a "$1" type of bid). The mechanics of the game are set so that even if you are not particularly good at trivia, and can still have a good time.

- Cluzzle. This is a game similar to pictionary, but you use clay to get people to guess your item. This always seems to be a crowd pleaser.

- Quelf. This is a highly interactive party game. If you have a more outgoing crowd, I can almost guarantee that this game will please. However, Im not sure if the more shy will like this game or feel a bit out of place. The concept is that throughout the game, there are cards that make you do things or suffer a penalty. One of the example cards says that whoever draws the card has to end all of his sentences with "For I have spoken!" until the end of the game. If he forgets and someone catches him, he gets a penalty of some sort. This game is getting some rave reviews from a lot of my non-gamer friends.

- Saboteur. This is more of a gamers game, but is constantly requested in our game group. The concept is that everyone plays dwarves looking for gold. However there may be a saboteur (or more than one) in the group that is trying to stop everyone from getting the gold. I have seen many players make wild accusations and have a great time. "He scratched his nose, he must be the saboteur!" The game is easy to learn and can play up to 8.

As you can see, all my links are to www.boardgamegeek.com I recommend going and spending some time there. There are a ton of games that are good for groups and there is a good chance its listed on the site with desctiptions and reviews.
Good luck!

My order of preference: Taboo (because it's only game on the list you can't make yourself yourself if you're willing to invest the time), Pictionary (all you need is a word list; the rules are available on line), Scattergories (it's just Guggenheim with different scoring), Cranium (four games duct taped together).

taboo is definitely lots of fun
pictionary is kinda old fashioned so...NO
cranium is my ultimate fav because its not just one thing to do, its a whole bunch
but for smaller groups, scattergories is definitely the way to go
PS scattergories is in my opinion, probably more fun than you think!

cranium is a superb game for many a while given which you get to create issues and goof around with the help of buzzing songs and such. conflict of the Sexes is likewise yet another game that persons savour enjoying because of the fact, as any adult men vs. women persons game, this is exciting. Scene it particularly is exciting with the superb version, once you're into video clips and tv. oh...and Curses!
