We ship a lot of cars to other countries and it would be ideal to get all the fuel out of the tanks before we put the cars into containers. Most of these cars have filters in the fuel filler neck, so siphoning is not an option. I was wondering if it was possible to rig up a connection to the 'air' valve in the engine compartment (on the fuel rail) and turn the car on allowing the fuel pump to pump all the fuel out? Thanks for the answers and any other sugestions.

you take the return line off after the regulator on the fuel rail remove gas cap to keep the pressure in the tank down hook up a hose to the regulator out put run hose into fuel container or other vehicle start car and it will run until it runs out of fuel
hook back up all hoses and put cap back on

on the other end of shipping add 5 gallons of fuel and start UP the car

Pumping the fuel out in the way you described is probably the best method,as you know all vehicles have a restriction in the filler neck that prevents siphoning. You may find it easier to pressurize the tank with compressed air to push the fuel out.
If all the fuel needs to come out the only solution is to remove the filler neck to gain better access to the tank..
