I had a dream/ flashback last night to a movie I saw years ago can you help me name it please?
It was a comedy/horror/ western possibly late 80's mid 90's. It was a sort of weird zombie western black comedy with some modern day guys dressed as cowboys who for some reason are in american gold rush era ghost town that is under some curse or spell as it is populated by zombie cowboys.
The one scene that sticks in my mind is the two humans approached by a zombie bad guy who asks them if he can look at their rifle. The human pushes the barrel into the mud before handing over. The zombie comments on the quality of the rifle before pulling the trigger, the barrel is plugged so it backfires into the zombies guts. The two humans are astonished as the zombie casually hands back the rifle and comments on what a fine weapon it is.
Can you help?

It's called 'Ghost Town' saw it when I was 13 and god knows why at the age of 32 it popped into my head again!

There was a direct-to-DVD release in 2006 called THE QUICK AND THE UNDEAD that comes close to the plot you describe, but I know that's not what you're looking for.
What sucks is that I know I've seen the movie you're describing, but can't remember the title. The only face that keeps popping into my head is The Judge from THE FRIGHTENERS, and that's not the movie either.

Dang! That sounds like a classic Sam Raimi film destined to be a cult classic. Sorry, haven't seen it, but I hope someone does know so I can check it out.
