The 60s was loaded with emotional scenes in movies and out there on the streets. It was a time of social change and big upheavals in the way we do things and treat each other.
Classical movies of the 1960s include : -
SPARTACUS - probably the greatest emotional scene in any movie ever, is when the Romans [Lawrence Olivier] asked, "Which of you is Sparatus"? [Kirk Douglas].
In turn, each of the men sitting with Spartacus got up and declared, "I'm Sparatcus".

Kes - is one of the most emotional movies [British] of the 1960s. I recommend you see this film, but make up your own mind. Read the review below.
KES
One of his earliest films, Ken Loach's raw, truthful re-telling of Barry Hines' gritty story is a moving account of a boy's alienation and isolation in a Yorkshire mining town of the 1960s. Awkward teenager Billy Caspar (David Bradley) has a miserable home life and a lousy existence at school. A chance discovery of a baby kestrel gives Billy a opportunity to nurture and develop, and the cruel murder of the bird by Billy's brother pains us for Billy, as much as for the baby Kes.

Try the 1966 remake of the classic 1910 movie "Madam X" starring Lana Turner. It's a real classic tearjerker movie even after 9 remakes, the latest being a 1981 version.

La Dolce Vita - Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg. Ekberg dances provocatively around a fountain whilst Mastroianni worships her every move... it's sexy, beautiful and somewhat explicit but has a delicious sense of well-being and emphasises the neo-Italian cinema of the 60s in all its glory. It's cliche but still manages to hold a sense of originality.

check out the movie Brighton Rock. there's bound to be some image you'll like.
i think its coming on BBC soon as part of its summer of British films season.
or how about an image from Harold Pinter's 'The Care taker' (1963) ? Donald Pleasence looked brilliant in that.
let me know what you use. good luck

Try the ending of the Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price 1964. The Ending is full of Emotion. That's all I can think of right now but if I think of anymore I'll update you on it. :)
Hope that helps!

Sorry i just could not resist that one.
Breakfast at Tiffanie's was a real tear jerker and had me holding back the weepies, especially when it came to the cat scenes.
