Trying to find out about how long it takes to go from Jonkoping to Stockholm on the x2000 or any other train that goes direct between the two cities. Also, can you get a single round trip or do you need to buy the 3 day or 5 day - one country pass, if you're only taking that one trip?

This seems the site of the Swedish railways:

Enter the towns you want to travel, enter buying details, you will go through several screens before you have to really buy a ticket, and you get the train times before that.

You will not need to buy a several days pass for a single trip, but if you want to travel more a pass can be cheaper. I think the return tickets will be also cheaper than a pass, but I am not sure about that.
If you are young (26 or younger) you can get rather cheap passes these days.

The fast trains cost 937SeK one way 2nd class. There's a slower (5 hr.) morning train at 8:32 that's half price.
The fast trains leave at about
10,12,2,4,6, 8 o'clock and take 3.5 hrs.

I see a 3 day pass is $243 2nd class, over 26
and 937 SeK is about $139, so the pass would be abetter deal, especially if you're under 26.
