With the success of Hairspray (which is basically a new generation adaption to Grease) I wouldn't doubt it.

The original Grease (starring John Travolta) and Footloose (starring Kevin Bacon) were released around the same time.

Hollywood is probably planning to ignite a new genre of song and dance flick remakes. Let's not forget the torture movies that have been flooding our cinemas.... ex: The Saw trilogy (a fourth one expected soon), Captivity, The Hills Have Eyes, Hostel 1 and 2, plus other unmentionables.

In my honest opinion, I would love to see Footloose re-released.... especially is Zac Efron is cast.

To answer your question... I think it's safe to say that Hairspray has started something amongst teenagers and children alike. It's success is sure to inspire other adaptions of similar movies.

In the words of Kenny Loggins...

"Everybody cut footloose (footloose)... kick off your Sunday shoes!"

Why did you spell it "footlose"?

Oh wait! aren't you the same person that just asked:
"How do I loose ten pounds?"
