Penn met with Chavez privately. If he thinks that he could do a better job than Bush, he should run for president. If not, he should not be stirring the pot. I am quite sure that he is not receiving the same memos that our president gets.

I think Sean Penn should be charged with treason. He is conversing with a potential enemy state.

Hi!
Yes, Penn SHOULD move to Venezuela and live there for a while. But not near Mr. Chavez, who spends over $1000 dollars on a single piece of clothing while half of his country is in poverty. He should move like a regular person, to ANY city he chooses and see if he likes it... If he likes the insecurity, the inflation and the near anarchy.
Come to think of it, a good part of the people answering this question should probably try to move to Venezuela too.
It is very easy to "idealize" and "opine" on something only by reading. Move to Venezuela and opine yourselves with base.
If you are NOT there, you simply DON'T know half of it. So, get up from your desk and go to a mall, have a nice dinner and go to a movie... By the way 80% of the Venezuelan people can't afford to do even that.

Goodluck.

Why could Penn choose for to fulfill Chavez? Now, some could diss me, yet I even have been to Venezuela and that i will assure that Chavez is one hundred% uninteresting hubris; huge ego plus he's manic from eating 20 espressos an afternoon! My constrained know-how of psychological ailment and psychology tells me he's a manic-depressive and delusional (paranoid and in any different case), verging on schizophrenic. he's not stupid, he's in basic terms a mango wanting a sizeable fruit salad! i be conscious of this from staring at him for days on end on the national television channel in Venezuela. honest adequate - human beings voted for him, he's what they wanted, he's what they have have been given. Venezuela is extremely a severe-high quality u . s . a . and the each and every person is incredibly severe-high quality (with exceptions, of direction). somewhat fascinating and many staggering issues to work out from the Andes to the Llanos to the Caimanos (Amazon section) and Angel Falls to three of maximum idyllic seashores and islands in the worldwide. So i could advise every person is going - properly, the adventurous varieties, besides as transport infrastructure isn't all that great. yet i do no longer think of i could choose for to fulfill Chavez if I had an engraved invitation and it is not something to do with my politics, i think of he'd in basic terms bore and/or annoy me to loss of life.

The same imbeciles that brought us the Iraq War (and all the dead soldiers and civilians that came with it) are trying to set up Chavez for the next idiotic quagmire.
They attempted to oust him in 2002.
That Right Wing media outlet that supported the coup (i.e. sedition and treason) was allowed to broadcast until it's license ran out and it was not renewed.
The neo con morons behind this policy of antagonizing a leader that gives Heating Oil as goodwill gifts to impoverished Americans will not be the ones to take bullets in the war they're trying to engineer.
But they never do. They get to pose in front of the flag, and our brave troops while making policies that disgrace that flag and endanger those troops.
Peacemaking overtures from Mr. Penn, (and Mr Belafonte) are needed and should be applauded. The evil behind our cowardly elitist policymakers needs to opposed so we don't make Venezuela into Iraq War 2!

Hey - AC1BD - watch the news on occasion...Sean Penn said it himself.

He has a 10th grade education and has no understanding of the world geopolitical situation. What would you (us Americans) do if our President shut down all the radio stations that did not agree with him? If that is the kind of person you want running your country, then call Sean and ask for a seat next to him on the next boat out!

Aah another lemming spewing US vilifying and demonizing lies.

Chavez has been elected by a huge majority at least three times now and these elections were demeamed ligitimate by an internation group that oversees elections.

Chavez is a socialist but of course ignorant, idiotic Americans equate being a socialist to being a Communist which allows them to vilify and demonize Chavez.

I am sure that all the democratic socialists that have ruled much of western European democracies must be re-assured of the monumental ignorance of the rest of the world.

One may not like Chavez but aside from his RHETORIC and his hatred of the US,he is no threat to his neighbors .

He ,un-like the US doesn't as a matter of course violate the sovereignty of other nations at the drop of a hat.Chavez doesn't wage ILLEGAL wars of choice based on filthy lies that result in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians like the US does.

He doesn't torture and kill prisoners. He doesn't support filthy vile right wing dictators as does the US.

Two years back ,when the US was starting to threaten Chavez,Brazil and the powerful OAS stood cup to the US at last and told them that if they DARED violate Venezuela's sovereignty by overthrowing his DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED REGIME EXACTLY WHAT THE US DID IN CHILE IN 1973,all hell would break loose .

Remember Chile? This is where the US effectively killed the democratically elected Allede and replaced him by the murderous ,vile RIGHT WING DICTATOR PINOCHET
who was charged with crimes against humanity and Henry Kissinger to this day is afraid to travel for fear that there is a sealed arrest warrant for him.

Like in the Middle East and elsewhere ,Americans are monumentally IGNORANT about the atrocities they have committed throughout Central and South America in the past 150 years .

Only now,are the majority of the peoples of these regions beginning to manifest their TOTALLY JUSTIFIABLE HATRED OF THE US and AMERICANS which resulted from total US support of dozens of viscious/murderous right wing despots who TERRORIZED THEIR CITIZENS DAILY.

Besides Venezuela ,this hatred of the US and it's viscious Robber Baron capitalism that has "SCREWED" millions of South and Central Americans is at last being manifested in Brazil ,Bolivia and a growing number of nations.

If I had to make a choice ,my friend would be CHAVEZ and not that war mongering/lying crimes against humanity evil person BUSH as would I suspect most of the rest of the world except ignorant Americans.

When will you ignorant Americans ever wake up, and see how badly brainwashed you are?

Chavez is doing good to his country, and an inspiring force for South America. Lets hope he continues to do so for a ong long time - not something the world hopes for when it comes to Bush and his bunch of thugs.
