You know at the start of friends, the opening credits and song bit where they're on the couch at the fountain outside a massive house? Well what relevance is that little bit to the show? Do they ever go there? I don't get it !

It's just a goofy setup .It was differant and odd so they did it .

No I don't think it has any relevance. The makers of friends just picked some good locations with wacky props ie 'the sofa' to get our attention when the show first aired. They got the opportunity to show that the friends cast were friendly and fun such as pushing and falling into the fountain. The question is why did they not change the opening credit after so many years???

there is no relevance that's why it is funny... it is just clean fun with FRIENDS and besides i think the background building is their apartment building... maybe the couch represents the Central Perk... they can't shoot that there because it won't be funny because it doesn't have a fountain where they can goof around without lines....

No relevance, it just shows them having some fun together, carrying on and shows how they used to look. don't you visit fountains with your friends????

I presumed it was the front of their appartment but now it looks like I could be wrong and theres no relevance to it at all.

It's just a fountain in the neighborhood, and being goofy people who do goofy things with their friends, they were just being goofy for the camera.

i think it was just a pretty scen to say that they have fun, and i think everyone wants to play in a fountain at least once! I did in new orleans!!! It was a blast
