I am 58 years old and have been a practising Catholic for most of my life. Now I have trully seen the light. Religion is no more than incantations, trinkets, superstition and a lot of hope, mostly by the brainwashed and the gullible. As Ignatius Loyola said, give me the child and I will give you the man. I have to conclude that virtually all senior figures in the Christian faith have exercised this "authority" over the Christian population for far too long. Bertrand Russell who was a very Staunch atheist was asked on t v in 1969 what he would say to god , if when he dies and was brought before God and was asked by God why he never beleived in him. Bertrand Russells answer was " Sir, you never presented me with sufficient evidence to persuade me that you existed. God is no guiding light and does not put things right.Ask the victims of the nazis, of Idi Amin, of poll Pot, of Saddam Hussein, Ad Nauseum. I rest my case.

No, because the majority of our difficulties are brought on by us not listening to God in the first place. God will be with you to give you the strength to get through your difficulties and if you ask him he will help you to find a way out or send you what it is that you need. God will not solve your difficulties but he will try to guide you away from temptations that will cause you problems and He will be there for you to help and support you while you deal with what you cannot change and to assist you to change the things that you can change. If you make one step,He'll take two for you.

Devotion is love towards God. I really don't know what i do and think is right. I shall just say what is prayer for me. If anything good happens to me, even for a very small thing, i would just thank god.. Whatever problems and worries i got, i would just feel that God will never let me down. Whenever i'm helpless too, i will be okay soon, not that i would get the thing, the absence of which made me sad. But i would get the power to live and deal with the problems i face. And it's not necessary that we could pray only by going to temple regularly or chanting mantras, as far as me.. I do go to temple regularly before. But, now my profession doesn't allow me to temple much.. I feel God as one of my best friend, who always eases me and make me feel strong when i face my harder times.. I do say some mantras, while praying.. But i think chanting on mantras will only make the prayer complete.. The thing is our thoughts should be pure enough. We should never think bad for others.. That is what God sees, i guess..:-)

Not unless asked, and even then - maybe not. I believe this is mainly because you have to learn something from this situation. If God helped you out, you wouldn't learn something. Like the butterfly sqeezing its way out of the coccon. If you help it out, its wings will never expand as the difficulty it experiences sqeezes the fluid into the wings.
The only way to stop the situation happening again, is learning the lesson.
But I must admit, most of the time God does help, just not in the way you expect.

Every time I've been in difficulty, I've solved it by taking action.
But I have often felt that my difficulties were tests sent to me by God.
Lately, I find that if I maintain a loving feeling in my heart, it's just as good as praying for certain things.

No, God DEFINITELY DOES NOT SOLVE OUR DIFFICULTIES.
If you think he does, then you have a very gullible mind.
God actually CREATES the difficulties, from up there in his dimension of 'Heaven'. He pits us against ourselves for his own enjoyments.
He doesn't think females are cool so he made the story of Adam and Eve up.
or
He is scared of females taking over so he made the story of Adam and Eve.
So there.

A fable by Aesop has a man getting his cart stuck in mud and praying to Heracles to get it out for him. Heracles appeared and told the man how to remove it himself. The moral is that the gods help those who help themselves. A war novel says God favors the side with the most men and guns. There is no proof that any gods exist, so one never accomplishes anything by depending upon imaginary gods to solve his problems for him.

Answer: I've no idea whether The Problem would / will be resolved through the passage of time, or whether an intervention of (a) God actually resolves a problem!
Maybe a collective 'group prayer' by the surgeons who'll be involved with me, will help lessen the 'Dangers' inherent, or make for a 'finer series of honed skills' on the day.

God is not someone like the police force or Fire Brigade personnel to rush to your help when you need . And that too when you call Him only when you need him and at all the other times you donot even acknowledge His presence.
If you believe in Him he listens to you sincerely and gives you power to act on your thinking. He does not advice or reprimand . He eggs you on to act in case of difficulties. If you come out of it you thank him . And if you don`t you donot criticize him but take another action .

Not directly by any intervention... that would not be compatible with the concept we have of God.
However, our faith in God gives us confidence which helps us to fight the difficulties without giving up until some acceptable solution is arrived at.
