Personally I think it is a lack of faith. God does not abandon people, people abandon God. It's too easy to blame God for our misfortunes and as humans we like to look outside ourselves and lay blame. We all have free will and should accept the consequences of our decisions and actions. When others choose to use their free will to harm us we must recognize that this is not God allowing it, it is not his will that any of us suffer. We do this to each other.
People, it seems to me, want God to fix all the problems we've created for ourselves and we want him to do it NOW! When that doesn't happen people tend to think God is not listening and abandon him. Simple lack of faith.

He has NOT abandoned anyone, What people do in life is there Owen choice.... the likes of 911 and the London bombing, the Train bombing in Italy, it's people that done them not god, some body walking down the road and gets knock down by a car driven by a drunk... it's not god fault, it's the person driving the car.... but yet we still pray to god to help them and there family's (the one that was knocked down)... when we need help we ask god to help us, when there is a disaster we ask god to step in and help and in everyday life we thank him for doing it.... he never turns his back on you even tho people turn there backs on him.....
hope this makes a little sense, by the way I'm not a holy person, i do believe in him and yes i do ask for help every now and then, as does most people, i don't go to mass every week, and i don't preach to everyone about god, if i go once a month then im doing really well.... take care and i hope this helps....

Because they're stupid. Country music singer Garth Brooks has a song titled "Unanswered Prayers" where he's thankful God didn't answer his prayers when he was praying his high school girlfriend was "The One". He was thankful he didn't answer that prayer because she wasn't "The One".
He also stated in a TV interview once that God ALWAYS answers your prayers - it's just that sometimes the answer is "NO"! Now if that doesn't make total sense then I don't know what does.

people believe things they see and know are there.I know some people that are haveing a life crisis and believe God left them to perrish.I don't...I sometimes get really mad and swear...but after a few minutes I feel so sorry because I know that God is there and helps me pass my depression.
I have friends that are atheic and don't believe in God...and one of my friends is very young...he's about 13 and he started smoking...I remember when he said"GOD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ME"...I was shocked...now he stared dealing drugs...
It really is a shame that some people don't believe in God...but God left human's free will...
That's my answer...
God bless you all!

So are you saying God is there, or there is no God? Religion is a individual belief and for you to tell people that you "KNOW" God is there is irresponsible, you are pushing your beliefs onto people.

After witnessing the horror of 9-11, I truly believe God is taking one VERY long coffee break.
