Maybe its the only thing that could possibly unit this world.............here's hoping that we get invaded by aliens!

If it was determined that the aliens were a threat to the whole world, then the governments would certainly side together and try to defeat them. In fact, I think that is universally agreed anyway, sometime ago. However that assumes that the threat is a military one. Suppose they are already here and taking us over slowly. Suppose the attack is with the use of disease. Suppose the attack is with sound, or perhaps radiation. Suppose the attack is strictly a cyber one. I could go on.
The method might not be as important as...who has the greater intelligence!
To return to the question, we would return to fighting amonst ourselves again afterwards. The reason i am sure is this: the fighting in this world is based on huge differences with religious beliefs, political opinions and abilities, different kinds of laws that don't work, and in many poverty stricken areas people fight just to be able to survive! The whole subject is complicated. Then there is the evil that people choose to do for themself.
But I agree that we would fight against a stronger enemy for the whole world.

When America with to war with Iraq, did Republicans and Democrats stop fighting?
I can hear the voices now......
Are we treating the alien prisoners well?
Did our intolerance for illegal aliens bring this on ourselves?
If I cut a deal with the aliens will they put me in charge of Australia?
We've treated the planet so badly do we deserve to survive?
Those ray guns would be cheaper if you let China build them.

Yes. It happens in everyday life. You band together against a common (and most times stronger) enemy. Of course there might be plans to take complete advantage over everyone at the end of the war....

i think nothing would stop internal fighting coz internal is inside u. if u crazy enough to believe in aliens u are beyond help and will fight even urself.

I would assume they would be of higher intelligence thusly already realizing that hate and war are stupid. They haven't made themselves worldy known because we still fight with eachother. There is footage and reports of most of the UFO sightings being around nuclear bomb test sites and missile launches. Whether they are scared for our lives or their own is beyond me. I hope they come out of their hidey holes and bring us together.
