I tried that. What you win is friends and family giving you all their old junk that they don't want but "you might be able to enjoy". I'm living in Sanford and Son's crapshack.
If I wasn't so full of inner-freakin'- peace, I'd s'plode right about now.

If you're talking about "materialistic" in a relationship - then you win your bf/gf's respect.

Freedom from "Things". When you feel the burden of having to own a lot of "stuff", you become a prisoner, having to work hard in order to afford them. We really don't need much. I admire the hobos who refuse to own much except the clothes on their backs (and only because they would be arrested for nudity), and their wandering lifestyle, not worrying about time or things, not having to answer to anyone. I think that they are free.
This reminds me of some quotes...
