it makes you do things you wouldnt normally
it impairs your judgement
it makes you ill the next day
over use harms lives

I've never smelled any sort of alcohol that was vile. I've sure tasted some that was vile, like Yeagemeister (spelling?).
To each his own. I'd also like to state that I've never done anything I've regretted or wouldn't normally do, except interact with people, as I'm shy and cannot possibly relax in large groups of people. That being said, I do know people and have seen people that have been complete @sses when they've had too much to drink. For me, 3-4 glasses of wine or bottles of beer is enough to get me to smile and feel good.

They hold their noses and tell themselves that they look cool. Or they really do enjoy the taste, seeing not all alcoholic drinks are bad-smelling.

I only drink wine and beer....in small amounts....and I haven't exactly noticed that it smells vile.
