Why does everything have to be related to race? Are you Gary Sheffield in disguise?

I think you're looking too much into it. There's plenty of white players who complain. It just might depend on big of a name the player is.
Look at guys like Curt Schilling or David Wells. Seems like they say something all the time that gets plastered over the news.
Besides, Santana had a valid point. The Twins are still in the race, they trade Luis Castillo, and don't get anyone else to help them out. From a players view, that's like the management has given up on the team. Santana said that's why the Twins will never get any further, and he's right. If the Twins hope to keep Santana, they need to prove they will do what it takes to win, or else he will be gone for sure.

Dumb analysis of the situation, trying to put a racial slant on things. And who's criticizing him? He has a valid point. I haven't been watching Baseball Tonight or some of the vapid sensationalist sports journalism out there to hear about any kind of backlash. White pitcher Ian Snell was just fined $2000 for threatening retaliation against a Rockies batter because he thought he was stealing signs. No pass there.

Santana got criticized because he should know the situation for the Twins, and most of the moves the Twins are making are for an effort to keep him around.
What About Ted Lilly in Toronto last year? Shea Hillenbrand in Toronto last year. Kyle Farnsworth has had trouble in NY - with Posada/Torre, and publically taken apart for his critism of the Clemens family clause.
To say this is racially based is stupid.

I don't really see it as a racial issue, everyone is fair game for the press and fans. Players like Clemens, J.D. Drew, Rolen, and many others have taken the same kind of criticism as anyone else.

EVERYONE gets criticized. And then EVERYONE says it has something to do with race, and turns this into something bigger than it really is.
