What is in paper that makes it so that it can be turned into charcoal, it's for a project, thanks for all you're contributions...

Paper is made from primarily from wood. Those small wood fibers and bleached and made into sheets to make paper. So paper and wood are pretty similar and the traditional way to make charcoal is the incomplete burning of wood.

Cellulose fibers from wood is what is primarily responsible for the formation of charcoal from paper.
