I used to have a friend who smoked pot every day. At the begining she was a lovely, fun-loving person, very pleasant. After 8 years of smoking every day she turned into a suspicious person who constantly said nasty things behind my back and about other people we were friends with. She stopped going out with us, prefering to stay indoors all the time. She would take her phone off the hook for hours so you couldn't call her. She put on about 3 stone in weight. In the end we had nothing in common so I ended our friendship. It's a shame, but you can't stop some people from hurting themselves.

It's up to you if you want to stop, but keep in mind, right now you live with your parents and get taken care of. What happens when you're an adult and no one is going to take care of you?

In a word YES, it is harmful. I grew up in the 60's when smoking pot was an everyday thing for a lot of people. Among other things, MJ is a "gateway" drug. By that it means that the majority of people who use it regularly, go on to much more dangerous drugs. In addition, The carcinogens in the smoke do cause lung and throat cancer, emphysema and chronic bronchitus. In addition, it does destroy brain cells, which never re grow. I lost several good friends to drugs, and every one of them started with MJ. In addition, the "pot heads" from my generation who only smoked pot, and did not use other drugs, are worthless today. They don't hold jobs, they talk like typical stoners, they failed to continue their education and basically never amounted to anything. They can't afford a nice house, nice cars or support a family. None of their marriages lasted and most of their kids are either "stoners" or got smart and don't have anything to do with them. A lot of them are homeless too. If you want to see what MJ alone will do to you, rent the tv sitcom "taxi" and study the character that Christopher Lloyd plays (JIM). That my dear is what your harmless MJ does. SO, if you really love your BF, get him to stop. If he refuses, find someone else. He isn't worth having a girlfriend like you.

If by Mary-jane you mean marijuana, I don't condone it for anyone especially at the tender age of 16, you are so young at this age you should be thinking about your future, entering uni getting some qualifications for later in life.

We read almost everyday about taking drugs and what it does to some people the thing you don't think it will be you but you don't know.
You could be one of those people that is susceptible to skitz. we are warned that marijuana is one of the main causes of this mental state of the mind. Make no mistake about the evidence produced so far, you don't want to become a victim.

Will it mess you up? You "need" it everyday? Yea, it's already messed you up. Look , at 16 it's your JOB to go to school and do your best. Pot doesn't make for good grades. This is the time you prepare for life and the lifestyle you want to have. You think i'm kidding but I'm not. There aint nothing free in this world and that's just reality.

Oh wow. I would honestly try quiting immidiatly. I'm hoping you still live with your parents considering your only 16! So i would talk to them. It wont be fun, but 2 hours of yelling, is better than a lifetime of additcion and ruining yourself. Will It Mess you up? Of course it will! if you NEED it everyday, than your doctor could prescribe something for you. Next time, please use more common sense to when you want to try drugs.

hun my father smoked dope for many years, and he is now schizophrenic , he is on medication and I'm the only remaining family member that has contact with him, i cant blame my mother she put up with his abuse for many years .For us children it was difficult growing up with a bong head for a father, the after marth of destruction left behind by him during his psychotic rages , was traumatizing. It was all induced by pot smoking. There are many other health side effects but i thought i would tell you about what can happen to your loved ones. And if your asking such a question u obviously know it's not the best for your health.

It can damage you in many ways...If you feel you need it everyday that addiction needs to be treated or ended on your own will power...
It is physically addictive,as well as mentally..It can kill brain cells that are vital in every sense..Any illegal drugs,or non prescribed are potentially hazardous on any level...
Please find a way to relieve yourself of this burden soon or face the consequences of a rough future ahead..Good luck!

I know lots of people that smoke it, and I have smoked it previously, in my opinion you can't say whether you will be affected by it in the long term or not. It affects people differently, kind of like playing russian roulette. There is lots of studys that show that it can cause mental illness and I personally would not like to risk my life in that way. Its a drug that you can easily wean yourself off, unlike harder drugs like heroin, crack etc.

Put simply, yes. Continued daily use of marijuana will change the structure of your brain permanently. You will never get it back. I've met and talked with people who've done this and they're just silly. They have lost much of their cognitive ability. I felt very sorry for them.

The fact that you have said "I need it everyday" strongly suggest that you are addicted to it. Addiction is a mental illness. So from the standpoint of "will it mess me up?" it already has.
