Take a look at some one who rapes a child then tell me there isn't evil in this world.

Most definitely yes, and it's going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better. The world has been evil since the beginning of time. When Eve's eyes were opened to the wickedness from the forbidden fruit. Up until that time the 'garden' was oblivious to evil, sorrow and pain. And Adam was given dominion over all the animals and they were at peace. The lion and the lamb.
Chaos never existed until after that. And then, Cain killed his brother Abel ( do I have that in proper order? Cain killed Able, or the other way around/) And the world has been at odds with an enemy ever since and it was never intended to be that way. It was because man didn't listen to the boss man, our Creator. Thankfully , he is a forgiving God. Otherwise we would all be doomed. As we are but only mankind can make that choice! We aren't forced into evil doing, we choose it by our own free wills.

Evil stems from a person who then tries to spread hate. Yes it does exist today, look at extreemists, they were not born evil. It was pumped into them. What kind of person can behead someone? Look thru history, Stalin, Hitler to name the most recent. Evil has been around since the beginning of man, and unfortunately it is not going away, nor will it, not in our lifetime anyway.

Sure! But unlike many people that see evil as a force of nature (or a supernatural force) that influences people and events, or as particular actions, thoughts and behaviors. I on the other hand believe evil is a human motivational condition. Meaning, that actions are not evil, but the reasoning behind them is and that this reasoning is not manifest of itself, but rather human weakness and foolishness run ramped.

A list of these faulty human weaknesses is: Intentional and unrepentant ignorance*, indolence**, gluttony+, bigotry++ and cowardice.# {See Note Below} This lit is a work in progress and is not yet complete, but it gives you an idea.

Thus, killing is not evil. However killing someone because you don't like their nationality or skin color, bigotry, is evil. Sex is not evil, forcing someone to have sex with you (using superior strength, threats of violence, blackmail, etc...) because you crave sex (gluttony) or are afraid of normal sexual relationships (cowardice) is evil. Stealing, is not evil. It may be bad or not nice, or not good, but it is not necessarily 'evil' either. However, steeling because you don’t want to work (Indolence) or want to own things that are beyond your means (gluttony) is evil.

So, do I think evil exists. I KNOW evil exists. And my examples are Corporate America, Bush and Cheney, theistic religion, American obesity. Need I go on?

I hope this helps.

* Ignorance: The condition of being uninformed or uneducated. lacking knowledge or information
** Indolence: Habitually lazy, procrastinating, or resistance to physical or mental labor.

(This is not limited to food and drink by could include any substance (drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc...), sex, gambling, etc... even money! [seeking money for the sake of having money or seeking it to the exclusion of all other pursuits would be gluttonous.])
++ Bigotry: Irrational intolerance and/or disdain of others based on racial, ethnical and/or cultural differences.
#Cowardice: Lack of mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty to a reasonable level of commitment.

First you need to define evil.

It is not a "force" like in Star wars.

If you think it is somebody beyond return to "good" then such people exist, such as Satan. The Bible supports this with an unforgivable sin.

If you, like me, believe that evil is the same thing as sin, or an action taken apart from God, then this is evil at it's very core, or true evil. Lucy for us God has chose to forgive us of our sins.

Evil is everywhere, there is evidence of that in every school shooting, drive by shooting, child abduction, serial murders, and the list goes on. We have to be careful and protect ourselves and our loved ones. Having said that, I think we can not live our life in fear. There is also so much goodness and kindness in people. We also have to keep a watchful eye for these and relish the moment when we are fortunate enough to find them.

No!... I do not believe that "EVIL" as such, exists!...
But unfortunately some of the more negative (evil?) characters of our current societies such as: Power, corrupted leaders, organize religions and politicians, are doing a good job in making it look that way.

However you define evil, I think it is safe to say that evil exists. People are dying in wars, they are starving, and dying from baneful diseases. Furthermore, we see people being persecuted for their religious or political beliefs, cases of children being molested and murdered as well as parents committing unspeakable atrocities against their children. Thence the logical problem of evil.

it is not that i think that evil exist, but i believe that it is present in our daily lives. wrongdoings, racism, war, slaughtering, and everything else, somehow all stems from the root of evil, but i do not hold evilness responsible for all of it. as human, we have been given 'free will', which means we are free and resposible for every decision we make. we are also accountable for all the failures, mistakes, or success we achieve. maybe part of the bad things that's been happening around is because of evil lurking, but most of them were man-made. =)

All people are evil. They hate and kill each other for trivial reasons. Some people steal other people's things. Some people lie and put others in troubles. Are you not living in this world?
