My fiance completey supported me through 2004, can she file as Head of Household? Also, I have since gone into business for myself and am self employed. I live in a different apt and city than I did in 2005. So when I file my past return now from 2005, do I use the address I lived at THEN or the one I am at now? THANKS!

Your finance cannot file as HoH based upon your dependency status. HoH is reserved for taxpayers supporting closely related individuals such as children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, etc.

When you file any tax return, you use your CURRENT address. That's where any refunds or correspondence will be sent so you don't want it going to an old address.

Your fiance can't file as head of household, as you are not her dependent. And for filing returns from 2004 & 2005 you would use the address you live at now. Good luck with 2004 & 2005, being self-employed. You'll owe Self-employment tax along with regular tax, as well as penalties and interest.

A fiance is not a qualifying person to allow someone to file as head of household, and wasn't for those tax years. She might be able to claim you as a dependent for 2004, though, if she supported you - there are additional rules, so you'd have to meet ALL of them. 2004 rules are different from the current rules - they changed in 2005.

When you file a back return, you use the address where you live now.
