I had the copper coil inserted in March 07, I have had regular periods since, except this month when i am 5 days late (so far). I have done a pregnancy test and its negative, does anyone else have any experience of this?

i had a copper coil fitted to replace a hormone coil which i didn't get on with about 6 weeks ago, i bled for a few days, then nothing for 4 weeks, now I've been bleeding/spotting for nearly 2 weeks, though i have no other symptoms and the bleed is not heavy. i hope that things will settle down and possible stio altogether.
to answer your question, i think that it is possible to stop bleeding, so don't worry, just see what happens, your test was negative so you should be ok. but if you're worried, then go and see your doctor.

Is a copper coil an IUD?? If so I got one on 2march this year and my period has really dropped off in regularity and severity. Some months i don't really know if i even got one its so light. But this is something that they do. Thats why they are great. My MIL hasn't had a period since she got hers in 2 years ago. If you took a test five days late then you probably aren't pregnant but wait another week and then ring your ob/gyn and ask them of take another test.

im getting a copper iud on monday, so im not sure yet, i hate that you can get late periods, im gonna think im pregnant every month! great, lol
