Do you like it with ice cream? In a tall glass or in a bowl (like in Cebu)

What are the "halo" that made it so special?

The best halo-halo I had in Aranque market, but there's more to just the taste. As you enter the market, the halo-halo vendors pull you to their respective stores, each one yanking you by the arm, and eventually it becomes a serious tug-of-war, with you as the rope unfortunately. This continues for a while until one succeeds in pulling you over to her store, whereupon you are obligated to get a special halo-halo. It's really comical.

With ice cream on top is OK. I prefer it in the traditional tall glass.

Special halo-halo has ube and leche flan in it.

home made halo halo is the best. u can put as much ingredients on it as u want. magnolia ube ice cream is the best. plus, if u make it urself, u'll be sure it's clean. i like the bowl type glass and how u have to be careful it doesn't overflow onto the platito. :)

Same here, in Cebu. (Ice castle) I like the smoothly pounded ice and some of the ingredients mixed with it. (ube, banana, nata de coco, sweetened corn kernels, leche flan, and ice cream on top. Plus more milk. Yumm! <*-*>

...anywhere really but the ambiance of the palenke (as explained vividly by the sweet guy above me) is really an experience in itself. for me the best halo halo ay yun libre (free)...basta blow-out, mas masarap (somehow, if it's a "treat" - someone is paying for you - then what you eat really becomes a treat!)

I love the homemade one better. It tastes so much better than the ones bought in a store. And yup, it's better with ube or mango ice cream.
