My daughter heard a pop from the glass stovetop, it cracked and sort of melted, has this happened to anyone before?

Yes, they will crack if you use cast iron skillets, because the skillet additionally gets too hot. I have had the glass top for eight years and it is great. Sorry you have had bad luck.

i wouldnt recommend using glass stovetops. they are very dangerous. they look sleek, yes, but they can be potentially harmful.
